POWDERBROWS

Powderbrows are a form of permanent makeup (PMU), where pigment is implanted under the surface of the skin with a PMU machine. This technique is meant to create a soft, powdery makeup effect. The tail of the brows are usually done darker, fading to a light beginning to the brow.

Soft Powder & Makeup Effect

There are two different ways to create Powderbrows. In both styles we brush the skin with a single nano needle, and build the pigment layer by layer producing a gradient of color from dark to light. This mimics the natural color progression of the brow from the tail and the core to the bulb. This color technique of seamless graduation from darker to lighter is what we call “Ombre” (French word meaning shadow).

Soft Powder style creates a soft, shaded look while adding natural looking definition and depth to the eyebrows. It is lighter at the front and top of the brow and going darker towards the tail. It gives the eyebrows a very natural look, almost like a shadow.

Makeup effect gives the look of gradient shaded makeup. The color is dense at the tail and slowly becomes more transparent as it gets to the front of the eyebrows. With very defined arch, and top and bottom outlines, it is created to heal darker than the Soft Powder style.

HOW IT WORKS

Certain steps are taken in order to ensure that your Powderbrows treatment is successful.

PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

- Evaluation (online consultation)

- Pre-care instructions (provided to each client upon scheduling)

DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

- You will be requested to fill out medical history and consent forms to make sure that you are indeed a good candidate for the procedure chosen and that you understand the policies in place.

- Pictures of your eyebrows will be taken before the procedure.

- Your eyebrows are going to be cleaned, mapped and shaped. Please note that during this process the drawing will give you the impression that your brows may look thicker than what you expect. Don’t panic! This is necessary for measuring purpose. Eventually they will look smaller. You will be asked to check the shape and if it’s overall within your preference.

- The first pass with the machine will be done without the numbing cream to ensure the shape drawn on your eyebrows is preserved.

- Once the first pass is done and some pigment has been implanted in your skin, a numbing gel will be used during the whole process to avoid any discomfort.

- Three to four passes will be done to fill in eyebrows.

- Once the treatment is completed, another picture will be taken to capture your new eyebrows.

- You will be provided with an aftercare kit containing instructions and an aftercare balm to be used during the healing process.

AFTER YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

- All clients will go through a healing phase that can take 7 to 14 days.

- After 6 to 8 weeks you will have to return for your touch up appointment in order to cover existing gaps and darken your eyebrows as it is expected considerable fading after your first treatment. Please note that the healing process varies from client to client. Some clients will barely need a touch up while others may need more work done to their brows/lips to have them looking nice and fresh again. Results are much better after your second treatment, so it’s important to be patient and trust the process.

- Your second appointment will be faster than the first one as there will be no need to spend the same amount of time on measuring and shaping.

AFTER YOUR SECOND APPOINTMENT

- Healing process is the same, even though the healing is not as intense as in your first treatment.

- It is important to allow your eyebrows to fade in order to have a color boost. Clients are recommended to wait at least 1 year before having a color boost appointment.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?

- Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin and has not settled in completely. The color of the pigment will soften gradually. Once the healing of your skin begins, it will look like flakes or dry pigment peeling. This might give you the impression that the color is fading too quickly. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. They may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished peeling. They will heal 30-40% lighter than they appear when freshly done.
