What’s the difference between Powderbrows and Microblading?

The biggest difference between these two permanent makeup techniques is how the pigment is deposited into the skin. Microblading uses a handheld tool to carve small cuts into the skin that mimic the look of natural eyebrow hair, whereas Powderbrows are created through tiny dots done by a machine similar to a tattoo gun designed to create eyebrows with soft powder effect, very similar to powder makeup. Please note that we no longer offer microblading.

should I choose Powderbrows over Microblading?

There are many advantages of choosing Powderbrows over Microblading, including:

How long is the procedure?

The entire session takes a total of 3 hours.

IS THE PROCESS PAINFUL?

The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. A topical anesthetic will be applied during the procedure to minimize any discomfort. The pain level is minimal to none for most clients.

What should I do before and after my appointment?

Please review our detailed Pre and Post Care Instructions here. You must strictly follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable, safe healing process and also to achieve the best possible results.

How will I look immediately after my appointment?

Your brows will appear darker, bolder, and more intense than expected for the first few days or so. This will gradually lighten during the healing process. Slight redness and swelling is expected.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Powderbrows can last anywhere between one to three years (after initial touch up) depending on the client's skin, lifestyle and maintenance.

How do I know if it’s time for my annual touch up?

You know it’s time for an annual color boost if your eyebrows lost their shape, you need to use brow makeup everyday, there are gaps in your brows, it’s been more than 18 months, and the color has faded by at least 50%.

Will my eyebrows still grow after the procedure?

Yes, Powderbrows does not affect hair growth in any way and you will have to keep it tamed and groomed as usual.

Should I avoid washing my eyebrows after they are healed?

MOST DEFINITELY NOT. You might think that by not washing your healed brows the color will last longer. However, like the hair on your head, eyebrows need to be washed regularly to prevent buildup, as they are susceptible to trapping oil and dirt, and even developing dandruff, which will eventually lead to premature fading and cause the color to turn gray. Washing your eyebrows during your daily face care routine should be enough to achieve proper brow hygiene.

Can I get Powderbrows if I already have my brows tattoed or microbladed?

This depends on the opacity of the old tattoo. If it’s very dark and solid, then we would recommend having it lightened/removed first before we can get them done again. Please text a picture of your previous tattoo and we will evaluate your case. If the former tattoo is dark, extremely uneven, dramatic in shape or with deep dark hair strokes, we will not be able to work on them. If the technician agrees to move forward, multiple sessions might be required and no results are guaranteed.

Can I go in the sun after the procedure?

If you plan on being on the sun right after the procedure, we recommend keeping your face (especially the brow area/forehead) protected from sun rays with a hat for 10 days after the procedure. This will avoid a sunburn on your brows and, therefore, a possible damage and infection to it. Once your brows are completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen on them, in case you are going to be exposed to the sun for a few hours in a row. Sun exposure might cause the color to fade away much faster than desired.

Is Powderbrows CONSIDERED a tattoo?

Many believe that Permanent Makeup is not a tattoo process and that it is “semi-permanent”. Any type of permanent makeup (powderbrows, lip blush and eyeliner) and even microblading are indeed a form of cosmetic tattooing. Whenever pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is considered a tattoo process. There is no such a thing as “semi-permanent”. What differs Powderbrows from an old school eyebrow tattoo is how the process is performed and the tools used. Unlike traditional tattooing we only insert pigment into the top layer of the skin (epidermis), which causes Powderbrows to fade quicker than a traditional tattoo. We also use pigment instead of ink, and it's not nearly as painful as a traditional tattoo. The pigments used are medical grade so it is safe and suitable for any facial area. Thanks to brilliant new techniques, technological advancements, and specialized pigment formulations, healed Powderbrows are soft and natural looking. Gone are the days of harsh “Sharpie” brows!

How will my PowderBrows look in the future?

Each individual skin heals and reacts differently due to several factors, including skin type, age, diet, stress, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare, etc. The best way to have your Powderbrows looking great in the future is by continuing to remove unwanted hair and keeping them well groomed (with waxing or threading), washing them on a regular basis, and protecting them from sun damage (a regular facial sunscreen will do the work).
